Hue:
is Vietnam's former imperial capital under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802
to1945). Hue has been recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage
due to its royal architecture complex and town planning. Many ancient
buildings remain such as tombs, palaces and pagodas that are highly

the Mausoleums of
emperors Tu Duc, Khai Dinh, Minh Mang and numerous pagodas are

Da nang, on the southern side of the
Hai van Pass, is Vietnam's fourth largest city. Da nang is home to the Cham Museum; also,
China Beach, is now becoming a popular beach resort here. There are also many other
beautiful beaches in Da nang. Stretching for several kilometers, these fine sandy beaches
with sunshine year round make them suitable for tourism in all seasons. |

Hoi an
is the charming little town that
lies 30km South of Da nang. Once known as Fai fo, Hoi an was one of the orient's most
prosperous sea ports in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, most of Old Hoi An still
remains unchanged. With its narrow streets and mix of architectures, a walking tour is the
best way to discover the town.
Inland and a half-day trip from Hoi an is My son, where the capital of the once great
Champa Kingdom stood. Its large community of foreign merchants resulted in a unique
architectural style blending Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese cultures. |

My son is Vietam's most important Cham culture site. My son become a
religious center in the late 4th century that lasted till the 13th century. My son is
considered to be Champa's counterpart to the grand cities of Southeast Asia's other
Indian–influenced civilizations, namely Angkor (Cambodia), Ayuthaya (Thailand) and
Borobudur (Indonesia). 68 significant Hindu temples, most dedicated to Shiva, were built.

The towers are built of
a combination of perfectly fitted fired bricks and elaborately carved
sand-stone bas-relief panels. Only 25 of these survived the centuries of
pillaging by Chinese and Khmer invaders, as well as U.S. bombings. |

The Demilitarized Zone consists of an
area 5km to both sides of the 17th parallel. Serving as a demarcation line between South
Vietnam and North Vietnam according to the Geneva treaty of 1954. The small river of Ben
Hai has become well-known. During the Vietnam war, the area just south of the DMZ was the
scene of some of the bloodiest battles of the conflict. During the war, Dong ha, Quang
tri, Con tien, Khe sanh became household names in Vietnam and the US |
