Located 160km south of Hanoi in Ninh Binh province, Cuc
Phuong National Park and the surrounding area make a perfect side trip
from Ha Noi. The park is an important nature reserve and ecosystem with
peaks of over 600 meters and valleys of subtropical rainforest. The park
has an important Endangered Primate Rescue Center and a Turtle
Conservation Center, and is also home to other rare and critically
endangered mammals including species of leopards and tigers. Birders
will marvel at the over 300 bird species found in the park and there’s
280 known species of butterflies.
Night 1: HANOI - LAO CAI
9:00pm pickup at the hotel. Transfer to railway station for a night
train LC1 at 10:00pm to Sapa.
Day 1: HA NOI – CUC PHUONG
Depart Ha Noi at 7am from the meeting place, drive to Cuc Phuong
National Park. Visit the primate rescue center to learn about the
important work being done to help protect the endangered species of the
park. Have lunch in the park’s restaurant then take a 4 hour trek
throught the old rain forest. Overnight in guesthouse within the park.
Day
2: KENH GA - HOA LU - HA NOI
After breakfast head to Kenh Ga and embark on a 2hr boat ride along the
river as it winds its way through local villages, rice paddies and
limestone mountains. Enjoy a lunch of Vietnamese food in a local house
then head to Hoa Lu to explore the ancient temples of the Le and Dinh
Dynasties. Return to Ha Noi arriving about 4:30pm.
